Debrief. A week of time set aside every few months for teaching, rest, and change. Our logistics team snuck us away into the mountains of San Ramón, Costa Rica where we had no access to the internet, there were no other people aside from the camp staff, and we had plenty of space to rest in the arms of the Father. Truly, it was a sweet time. Once we emerged from our hiatus at La Montaña Christian Camps and finally got wifi, my notifications were full of people checking in because I hadn’t been posting any blogs. I felt so loved, thank you. Sometimes this gig is a little tough when you don’t know who’s reading and no one’s interacting, but I’m really thankful to know that people care about what I’m writing.

As much as I’d love to blame my lack of posts on the fact that we were holed up without wifi for a week, there’s more to the story. Our time in Costa Rica was a difficult on and individual and communal level. This has been a pretty dry season for me. I’ve had some really incredible encounters with the Lord, but it’s hard to write about some of the things that He’s doing in my heart and mind for various reasons. I’d love to share the details of all that has happened, but here’s a snippet of what’s going on ‘round here! You’ll probably get the full story on some of these bullet points in the future, but for now I hope this little list suffices.

  • I learned what submission to authority looks like even when I disagree.

  • Where God guides, He provides. – I read a book that’s literally just a collection of stories from the mission field sharing about one woman’s journey of learning the importance of and encouraging people to listen to the Lord for direction in every aspect of life.

  • The Lord’s walking me through what it means to be a worshipper.

  • I’m currently in what we, on the race, know as the “brokenness” stage of a kingdom journey and I’m walking through the process of surrender that leads to the next stage: Dependence.

  • I got my nose pierced in Costa Rica.

  • I stood up on a surfboard. Yes, I immediately fell off, but I stood up and I’m proud.

  • I’m hearing the voice of God more clearly and I’m learning to obey Him when He speaks.

  • At our last debrief, we had team changes and my new team is made up of all the men on my squad. It’s MANISTRY month(s).

  • We’re in the Dominican Republic with our new teams until the beginning of June and then we’re off to Turkey and we are so stinkin’ excited to finally be boppin on over to the 10/40 window!

The rain is coming. I’m desperate for more of the Lord and He honors hungry hearts. I’ll be back soon with some more stories.

I love you.
