As we move forward, know that I don’t understand every word of Spanish, but my four years of courses and one month of immersion have taught me to hold my own around here.

**Names have been changed for privacy and protection.**

Megan

Megan approached us as quickly as any other would. They’re all typically pretty respectful and don’t ask the same group of people all at the same time, so we get the individual all to ourselves. Anyway, Megan approached us and was actually not all that interested in staying. She was walking away as she was talking to us, but I brought her back. Megan looked younger than the other vendors in the park and I was intrigued. Honestly, I was concerned. I asked her age and she told me that she was fifteen. I didn’t buy it, but couldn’t really go deeper, but I didn’t buy that she was fifteen. I asked her if she knew Jesus and she told me yes, so I asked where she goes to church and she responded to let me know that she goes to church with the pastor. An interesting answer, for sure. I didn’t get to ask more because she quickly walked away and I know that this is her job, so I let her go.

Would you join me in praying that Megan would be drawn into deeper intimacy with the Father. That if she does know Him, that she would press into Him, and if she doesn’t, that she would come to know Him.

Darlene

Not long after we finished our quick chat with Megan, we met Darlene. She delivered her pitch as eloquently as any other and I caught her off guard. I told her that while I didn’t have any money, I do have something else, Jesus. As soon as I asked her if she knew Jesus, she said with much excitement, “Me too! Would you pray for me?” My team and I looked at each other and we lit up. OF COURSE. We asked her name and got some details and we went in. We asked permission to lay hands and we lifted her needs up to the Father. She prayed along with us and it was such a sweet moment of ministry to a sister. We loved this time that God gave us with His daughter. He loves her so much and we are so thankful that we got to pray with her.

Darlene is having a difficult time with her family right now. Her daughter married a man from the U.S. and he went back to the U.S. and left his daughter, Sarah, with Darlene and the baby is rather confused and wants her daddy. I couldn’t quite understand where Darlene’s own daughter is and why she doesn’t have the babe, but would you join us in praying for peace and comfort to be found ONLY in Jesus.

William

After we spent a solid amount of time walking laps around the park, we paused in a corner as we had just walked by a weeping woman in the middle of a conversation with other people. We made our home in that corner for just a moment. I slipped down onto my knees and began to pray as Ari simultaneously climbed onto a bench and started singing a worship song. Alayna and I joined her. This went on for a moment before we stopped singing and prayed together only to be interrupted by a highly energetic fella named William. I’m not convinced that he wasn’t intoxicated as the smell of alcohol was quite pungent. As we conversed with him, we learned that his mom recently kicked him out of his house because he is a sinner and has chosen to live in that identity, so he’s been sleeping on the streets. As we prayed for him, the Lord told me two things. First, He said that William is bound. Second, he told me to put my hand on his head, but I didn’t. I don’t know why, but I didn’t. Though I did begin to pray for freedom from whatever has him bound. Later, I learned that the girls had also been told to put their hands on his head and they did.

We finished praying for William and he offered me one of the bracelets that he was selling. My attempts to have him keep the gift failed and Ari, Alayna, and I walked away with new bracelets to remember this encounter.

Would you join me in praying for William to be freed from whatever has him bound, that he would be able to reconcile his relationship with his mother, and that he would find refuge and freedom in Christ alone?

Matthew

As we’d been walking laps around the park, I’d taken notice of some lights that were flashing. They seemed as though they might be forming a path. I’m new to hearing the voice of God and I know that He speaks in some pretty interesting ways, so I brought this up to the girls and we made the decision to follow the flashing lights until we received other instructions from the Lord.

Once we’d gotten to the end of the flashing lights, I was lost. The only light that I could see flashing was up a mountain miles and actual miles away, but in faith, we pressed forward never removing our gaze from the flashing light except to be sure we weren’t missing a note from the Father elsewhere.

After a while, we knew that we weren’t supposed to continue, but we weren’t actually sure where we needed to go, so we aimlessly wandered for a bit until we saw Matthew. Our first interaction with him left us feeling empty and maybe even a tad frightened. We stopped a few minutes after and Ari led the charge to pray for him. “I don’t feel like we need to lay hands on him, but we do need to pray for him.”

The Lord redirected our steps and we were soon approaching him. Unsure of what to expect, we braced ourselves for what might be the most hostile interaction of the night, but upon introducing ourselves and chatting for a moment, we realized that this might be one of the most gentle men that we have ever encountered.

Feeling as though I didn’t need to play a role in this one, I stood back and sort of hovered as to make my presence known, but not to scare him too much, but Matthew pulled me in on his own. He wanted me there, so I knelt before him and I placed my hands on his knees to comfort him as the girls prayed for healing in his right ear. He was incredibly grateful that we’d made our way over to him and he made sure we knew that.

Matthew is indeed a homeless man that was aimlessly wandering to find a safe and comfortable space to lay himself for the evening. Would you join me in praying for provision, protection, healing, and salvation?

The Park

The evening ended with an inclination to walk back toward the park. It was getting rather late and we knew we needed to attempt to call another uber to get back to the rest of the team as we had minimal communication with them in an effort to preserve the battery on the only phone with international service among us at the moment.

As we were walking to the park, we passed right under a sign that read, “Go to the park. It’ll be peaceful.”

So we continued on our way. We took a seat in front of the fountain in the square, had one more short conversation, prayed for a group of guys as they walked by, and hopped in the uber that finally made it to us and dropped us at the gate to our home.

All I’ve gotta say is what. a. night.

Have no fear, only one more blog left to read here. I’ll have it up and ready for you tomorrow! I’m stoked to share about what the Lord taught me through this evening.

See you soon,

AWM
