How do I sum up a whole month on the World Race? I don’t know, so I won’t try. Instead, I’d like to introduce you to my team. These people have played such an integral role in why I’ve loved the last thirty days of my life so flippin’ much. We spend much of our time laughing, more time praying and declaring life over one another, and we’ve got a neat passion for enthroning Jesus on our praise. We sing together a whole lot. I’ve grown to love these hooligans with a deep love. They’re my brother and sisters and I’m thankful that the Lord constructed this team with great intentionality. He’s so kind to give me these friends.
Just so you’re aware of what you’re stepping into, you’ll learn our role on the team, our home state, you’ll see a lil picture of each person, learn my favorite thing about them, and catch their answer to the infamous Valentines day questionnaire.
Ok. The time has come. Here’s Team M.O.M:
Alli Taylor
Story Intern – Field Writer
Texas
What I love most about Alli is that when she speaks, she does so with the authority given to her by the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave. She’s a force.
I asked Alli: Who wears the Pants in the relationship? — “I don’t think one person in particular is wearing the pants. We are all wearing different articles of clothing to make one outfit. Kinda like the church haha.
Ari – Spiritual pants FOR SURE! Lindsey – The hat. She shades the team with that spiritual covering. Alayna – The backpack. She always has our backs and supports us so well. Any time we need anything she’s got it. Aaron – Fun socks. He’s super outgoing yet warm. Fun yet cozy. Scott – The undergarments. Serves you well but is ok with not getting any credit or being seen. Alli – The sweater. Came a little later in the year, but is still quite the necessity.”
Lindsey Pruitt
Team Leader
Arkansas
What I love most about Lindsey is that she’s more than a woman with a vision. She’s a gal who has the desire, confidence, and ability to execute the vision, whatever it may be.
I asked Lindsey: What’s an ideal date night? — “I’d love to go to a concert with the team, maybe like Chris Renzema vibes or Hillsong and we could worship and jive and play in the music. Then we’d walk a few blocks, stopping along the way for divine appointments and trying choice street foods, laughing a lot. We find a lookout over the city and snag the sunset talking about how cool God is to paint us something new. We’d stumble on a little local food restaurant that no one knew about but everyone agrees to and we find out it’s a secret local hole in the wall that everyone loves. We find ourselves at a candlelit dinner, round table, with alt J kind of tunes in the background and a live succulent wall behind us. Everyone is slightly sweaty from dancing at the concert but dressed kind of cool and lit up with joy. We order a huge array of tapas and everyone gets to try everything! It’s a display of wild proportion and the flavors are only unmatched by the depth of conversation. We tell wild stories and enjoy getting to know each other in new ways. We leave thinking everyone is frankly way more beautiful than before and there are lots of hugs and knowing glances. On the way home we breakout into karaoke with our Uber driver. We saunter in to our host home and run up to the roof to share a bottle of wine and stare at the stars together. It’s about 75 degrees. We fall asleep in one big room on our sleeping pads after one of us reads a scripture passage and someone sings a little song. We drift off thanking the Lord for this wild community he’s given this year.”
Scottie Tinsely
Team Treasurer
Arkansas
What I love most about my Scottie boy is that he appreciates the little things. When someone cooks the most simple meal, he appreciates it like he’s not seen food in weeks. That’s just one example. He’s crazy over little things and I love that. I feel like the world’s next top chef when I cook for Scottie tho and I’m not mad about it.
I asked Scottie: Who falls asleep first? — “Grandma Alli lol jk but for real Alli definitely is the first to sleep only because she’s mindful about getting the rest she needs. Healthy boundaries.”
Alayna Wood
Squad Logistics
Minnesota
What I love most about Alayna is that she boldly and confidently speaks TRUTH. She filters every word that she shares with a person through the Lord and His word.
I asked Alayna: Who’s the first to admit when they are wrong? — “We are team MOM and mom is never wrong. *Whispers* But if someone was to be the first to admit they were wrong, I’d say it would be Lindsey.”
Ari McMonagle
Squad Leader
California, but also Georgia
What I love most about Ari is her passionate pursuit of Jesus. Her desire to have more of Him drives me to the secret place to find more for myself.
Ps I have two other incredible squad leaders, but they’re not with our team yet, so I’ll intro them when I get to have them on my team! Much love, Katie and Brandon!
I asked Ari: What was your first impression of the team? — “When I first met my honey-sugar-peanut butter baby Team M.O.M. , they were holding me straight out of my taxi from the airport. They came on really strong, but in a good way. Like…wow, they totally think I’m the cutest. What more could a girl ask for?”
Aaron Wesley Moore
Story Intern – Field Writer
Mississippi
This is me. You know about me. But in case you’re wondering, my favorite thing about myself is that I know who I am. I’ve struggled with identity, but now that I understand what the Father has said about me, my identity is rooted in Him and can never be removed.
I asked myself: Who said I love you first? — “It was me. I remember like it was yesterday. I walked out of the kitchen with a passing, ‘I love ya.’ Realizing what I’d said, I turned back to the team and asked ‘can I say that yet?”‘
This concludes the long awaited introduction of my lovely team. I hope you caught a good glimpse into who they are and why I love them so much.
With all my love,
AWM
